Miami has been under the spotlight in the 80’s with the most popular TV series Miami Vice. Stylish cops fight crime in the city of Miami featuring the hot spots and famous establishments in that year. The Miami Dade College is looking back at time when Miami neighborhood was yet to flourish but it was still a great neighborhood though with lively nightclubs, restaurants and great view with lovely people of course.
Lynn and Louis Wolfson II Florida Moving Image Archives at Miami Dade College(MDC) captures the Miami Vice moment with a compiled vintage videos of Miami’s popular night spots such as Club 1235, Regine’s, Tobacco Road, and Fire & Ice, among other popular night spots. This a great opportunity to see the how Miami was during the 80’s and you’ll surely appreciate how the city has developed to be this great. The South Florida Nights screenings will be from 12 noon – 1:30 PM every Tuesdays and Thursdays from January 6 – 29, 2015. This is a free screening and open for the public. This is a great way to relive Miami.
Watch the May 1986 report by WTVJ’s Nick Bogert on trendy clubs, neighborhood hangouts and off-the-beaten-track nighttime adventures. A report on the opening night of Club OVO on Miami Beach leads a story covering high-end clubs, such as Regine’s and Cats. Other stories in the series seek out more relaxed joints, such as Duffy’s pub in West Miami, Tobacco Road near downtown and Satellite Club in Liberty City. Other featured spots include Chevy’s and Studebaker’s “car bars,” night tours of the Everglades and venues devoted to bowling and darts.
