Welcome to the little town of Coopertown in Miami. This is a place where learning and fun accommodates every guest. Located just a few miles from the Florida turnpike is the Coopertown Airboat serving since 1945.
The Coopertown was founded by John Cooper and has remained with the family since. The airboat experience started from a small number of people’s curiosity and has further expanded to accommodate the growing number of guests. James Cooper, John’s brother thought of Bait & Tackle shop with grocery store and gas station, but was sold to the National Park in 1996. Marion, John’s brother opened a small stall that serves refreshments and foods for the Airboat Tour passengers and has long been standing under various managements with interesting dishes served. The Coopertown Airboat has grown its popularity has been an attraction to many locals, tourists and celebrities for movies, documentaries and photo shoots. Some of the many productions that features the Coopertown are the following Invasion USA starring Chuck Norris, Held for Ransom starring Dennis Hopper, Miami Vice, Background for American Idol, Good Morning America, National Geographic, Discovery Channel, MTV Music Awards, Playboy magazine, Vogue magazine and more. The Coopertown Airboat offers private tours for the family or a group of friends guided by the professionals for an educational tour includes exploring the gators, turtles, hawks and more in the Everglades. You may choose from the different tour packages offered. After a fun, educational tour, have a taste of the ‘Down Home’ cooking, Everglades-style with exotic specialties such as frog legs, ‘gator tail, catfish and more. Admission is $23 for ages 11 and above, $11 for the children ages 7-11 and free admission for 7 years and below.
