Lowe Art Museum
In service of the University of Miami as a teaching resource, the Lowe Art Museum is operated by the said university since the year 1950. This was a git by Joe and Emily Low to promote education and art to the public and is the first museum in the South Florida. The unending support of the Miami residents and the government takes a great part in the success and continued operation of the museum.
A number of the finest art works are donated in the gallery that ages from the Renaissance to the Modern Art. The Lowe Art Museum houses national and international works from all over the world. The Lowe Art has started collecting ancient American art since 1958 and has achieved an international stature. The Lowe started their collection of the western art which includes over 2,000 art pieces in the 19th and 20th centuries. Asian collection is also housed in the The Lowe’s that includes magnificent arts by the Chinese, Korean and more which is donated by Stephen Junkunc III.
The Miami is proud to have The Lowe Art Museum which has achieved an AAM Accreditation in 1972. It was designated as Major Cultural Institution by the State of Florida in 1987.
